Public Address & Voice Alarm System Upgrade
Fuse Fire & Security completed a full public address and voice alarm (PAVA) system upgrade for The MAC Belfast, replacing an ageing system that had reached the end of its operational life.
Following extensive fault-finding work to restore the existing installation, we designed and installed a new Baldwin Boxall VIGIL3 head-end, providing the venue with a reliable, future-ready voice alarm system for everyday announcements and emergency communications.
The Challenge
Taking Over a Complex, Ageing Public Address & Voice Alarm System
Fuse Fire & Security was first brought in at the beginning of 2025 to investigate persistent faults affecting the existing public address and voice alarm system.
Previous contractors had been unable to identify the cause of the issues, so our engineers carried out extensive fault-finding to trace and rectify the underlying cable faults.
Although the faults were successfully resolved, it became clear that the existing head-end equipment had reached the end of its serviceable life. The system was becoming increasingly unreliable, and continued repairs were no longer a cost-effective long-term solution.

The Solution
Upgrading to a Modern Baldwin Boxall VIGIL3 Voice Alarm System
Following our recommendations, The MAC Belfast approved the replacement of the existing head-end with a modern Baldwin Boxall VIGIL3 public address and voice alarm system.
The project included:
- Installation of a new Baldwin Boxall VIGIL3 head-end.
- Installation of a touchscreen paging microphone for intuitive day-to-day operation.
- Installation of a dedicated fire microphone for emergency voice alarm announcements.
- Full commissioning, testing and integration with the existing system infrastructure where appropriate.
The new system provides improved reliability, improved usability and a future-proof platform that supports both routine announcements and emergency voice alarm messaging.
