EICR: Electrical Inspection & Condition Report

EICR Testing for Homes and Businesses

Certified EICR testing and report available across Northern Ireland to assess the safety of your fixed electrical system

EICR testing checks if your electrical systems are safe and working properly. Regular testing helps find faults, reduce risks, and meet safety regulations. This lowers the chance of electrical fires or breakdowns.

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), also known as periodic inspection and testing, looks at the condition of fixed wiring in homes and businesses. The inspection follows BS 7671, the UK standard for electrical safety. It includes checks on wiring, sockets, and other fixed parts to find damage or faults.

Our service includes testing by NICEIC-registered electricians, a full report and certificate, a 12-month warranty on our work, and clear pricing based on the size of your property.

Who Needs an Electrical Inspection & Condition Report?

EICR testing is recommended or required for a range of property owners and managers. It helps meet legal duties, reduce risk, and confirm that electrical systems are safe to use.

Homeowners

Ensuring the safety of your family and property is paramount. An EICR helps detect potential electrical hazards, preventing accidents like electrical fires and shocks. Regular inspections can also improve the longevity and performance of your electrical system.

Businesses

For businesses, an EICR is crucial to safeguard employees and customers. Regular inspections help prevent electrical faults that could disrupt operations, ensuring business continuity. Compliance with health and safety regulations is also maintained, avoiding potential fines and liabilities.

Landlords

Landlords have a legal obligation to provide safe living conditions for tenants. An EICR ensures rental properties meet safety standards, protecting tenants from electrical hazards. It is often required before a new tenancy begins and at regular intervals thereafter.

Industrial Facilities

In industrial settings, the electrical load and complexity are typically higher. An EICR helps manage the risks associated with heavy machinery and equipment. Regular testing ensures the system can handle the demands placed on it, preventing costly downtime and maintaining a safe working environment.

What’s Checked During the EICR Test?

EICR testing looks at the condition of fixed electrical parts in your property. A qualified electrician will carry out visual checks and electrical testing to find faults, damage, or anything that doesn’t meet current standards.

Wiring Inspection

Thorough examination of all wiring to identify wear, damage, or deterioration. We check for proper installation and compliance with safety standards.

Circuit Testing

Evaluating the performance of individual circuits to ensure they can handle the load. We Identify any issues with circuit breakers, fuses, and other protective devices.

Visual Inspection

We conduct a detailed visual check of the entire electrical system. We look for signs of overheating, corrosion, or any other visible issues.

Earth Fault Loop Testing

We test the earth fault loop to ensure it can quickly disconnect in the event of a fault. Improving protection against electric shocks.

Electrical Component Testing

Testing sockets, switches, and other electrical components for functionality and safety. We Verify that all components are correctly rated and installed.

Safety Compliance Check

Ensuring all electrical installations comply with current safety regulations. We provide recommendations to bring any non-compliant elements up to standard.

Insulation Resistance Testing

Measuring the resistance of electrical insulation to ensure it is adequate. Preventing potential electrical leaks and ensuring the system’s safety.

Report and Recommendations

We provide a detailed report of findings with clear recommendations. Offering guidance on any necessary repairs or upgrades.

What Happens After the Test?

You will receive a report showing whether your electrical installation is safe. If the report is satisfactory, no action is needed. If faults are found, we will explain what they mean and offer a quote for any repairs.

Once repairs are completed, we can arrange a retest and update the report if needed.
